Well, what a night in Carlisle!

Unfortunately during the day Martin developed a bad case of laryngitis and completely lost his voice. We really thought we had no other choice but to cancel the show! Martin was understandably completely gutted and distraught at not being able to perform to his exceptionally high standards!

Before showtime the news was broken to the crowd and the choice was offered to cancel the show or we still perform as best as show as we can, inviting the crowd to all be singers for StillMarillion for one night. The choice was clear that everyone was up for some sort of show to go ahead.

The band were understandably apprehensive not having our talismanic singer Martin leading the chorus line but we needn’t have worried as the reaction from the crowd as we stepped on stage made us realise we were instantly among friends!

Oh what a crowd!

Massive credit to Stuart Clyde who took up the majority of vocal duties and the rest of the band upped their game to provide blistering backing to the enthusiastic voices in the crowd.

Martin joined the band onstage to rapturous applause and although he was incredibly frustrated and disheartened he remained onstage the whole time conducting the the crowd and miming along like a prog rock Marcel Marceau.

Massive thanks to all who attended and supported us. It’s certainly a night we will remember for a long time.

Welcome to the StillMarillion karaoke party!
